The Undergraduate Journal of Contemporary Issues and Media
We have a new undergraduate journal that publishes undergraduate work to a wide audience. The journal is entitled the Undergraduate Journal of Contemporary Issues and Media and is student run through our Technical Editing course, which I teach in the Department of Writing and Rhetoric Studies at the University of Utah. Each year on November 30th we go live with a digital edition of multimedia pieces that address various issues that impact those between the ages of 18-24. The journal will be housed in WorldCat through our library and will be accessible to over 70,000 libraries in some 170 countries.
I have attached a partial (and still in progress draft) of our 2018 volume so you can get a better sense of it. Other pieces include a piece on animal/human relations (Stanford student), a policy brief on Asian mental health in California (UC-Davis student), and an open mic on liminal spaces of identity (Colgate student). We welcome various genres, including those taught in a variety of courses.
Student submissions can be sent to undergraduatejournal@utah.edu (deadline January 15th, 2019). If you have any questions, please contact me at maureen.mathison@utah.edu.
